God is our Fountain and Life

For today’s meditation, I have taken the Word from the book of Psalms.

For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.-  Psalm 36:9 (NKJV)

In just one verse, David captures the heart of our dependence on God. He calls the Lord our fountain of life and the light by which we see. This isn’t just poetic, it is deeply spiritual and profoundly personal.

1.  “the fountain of life.” - God is the source of life 

2. “In Your light we see light.” - God is the source of true understanding and clarity 

1. The Fountain of Life

God is not simply someone who gives us life , He is life itself. Like a spring that never dries up, His presence restores, sustains, and refreshes us, especially when everything else feels empty or uncertain. He remains our constant source of hope and strength.

When you’re spiritually dry, He is your water.

When you’re weary, He is your strength.

When you’re lost, He is your way.

God alone satisfies the deep thirst of the soul. He doesn’t offer temporary fixes, but lasting, renewing life that flows from relationship with Him.

David continues,

2. “In Your light we see light.”

Only through God’s light can we truly see  not just with physical eyes, but with spiritual understanding. His presence brings clarity to confusion, truth to a world of lies, and direction when we feel uncertain. Without Him, we may see the world, but we won’t see it rightly.

His truth exposes deception.

His wisdom brings peace.

His light gives meaning and hope.

If you’re feeling dry, confused, or simply longing for more  return to the Source. Don’t just seek the gifts of God; seek God Himself. He is your Fountain of life and your Light to see. Because with Him, you’ll find everything your soul truly needs.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your Word in Psalm 36:9 “For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.” What a powerful reminder that true life and clarity come only from You. Lord, I lift up every person who reads this devotional. May they experience the fullness of Your life-giving presence. Let Your light shine into every area of darkness in their lives, bringing peace, direction, and renewal. Draw them closer to You, the true Fountain of Life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
